 INTL 31408 – Research for the Model United Nations
Fall Semester

This course will examines major issues facing the world organization. Students will also be introduced to the practice of international diplomacy through presentations and in-class simulations. They will conduct research in security, disarmament, environment, development, human rights, and humanitarian affairs. The course is designed to prepare for the Model United Nations course in the spring semester and provide general knowledge about international organizations.

Spring Semester

This course will prepare students for the Model UN which is a simulation of the United Nations in class and at local level leading to a national exercise, the NMUN NY Conference. Throughout the semester we will examine major issues facing the United Nations, learn about the work of its specialized agencies, and explore the world of multilateral diplomacy. Special guests will discuss their work at the Secretariat and in the field. Students will also be introduced to the practice of international diplomacy through presentations and group exercises. Model UN is designed to prepare students for the national conference as well as to provide general knowledge about international organizations.
